This month there are reasons than ever to get out and play footie. Don't believe us? Read on...
This month is a hectic time in the footballing world, with several English teams
fighting for silverware both domestically and internationally - it could be make
or break time!
Nottingham’s two main clubs, however, cannot boast to be among those looking
to round off a dramatic season with trophies, so the closest you’re likely to get to
that action is through a TV screen.
But why would you waste your time on those unimportant games when you
could be out and about, playing football in Nottingham and getting involved at
the level that really matters?
On Tuesday 8th March, Nottingham celebrates International Women’s Day with a
tournament designed to Reclaim the Pitch for women and girls above 16 years of
age. All abilities are welcome at the Forest Sports Zone from 7-9pm. You can
book a place for your team by emailing Katie@city-of-football.uk.
Girls Only Nights are also being hosted at the Forest Sports Zone from 7-8pm on
Tuesdays as part of the Get Into Football initiative, and Female Football Fives
continues to grow as more teams are joining the league on Monday nights from
6-9pm at the Football Centre in West Bridgford.
Of course, there are opportunities for boys as well as girls if you’re looking to get
involved, with mixed sessions available for all ages throughout the month at
various locations. Check here for the full list.
Whichever session you decide on attending you’ll find a professional coach
running drills tailored to the age group and abilities present, so what’s holding
you back?
The Monty Hind Club are launching disability football sessions next week which
we’re excited about, and we’ve got our very own City of Football app launching
later this month – a brilliant digital tool that will help you organize matches,
recruit for your team or just join in when you fancy a kick about.
Look out for us on Notts TV this month too – stay connected on social to get the
scoop on what’s happening when.
Finally, you’ll find us at Harvey Haddon for the Sainsbury’s Sports Relief Mile on
Sunday 20th March. Kick, dribble or show off your ball skills as you do your mile
with the City of Football team!
There’s never been a better time to play football. Leave the TV watching to those
who can’t. Grab hold of your boots, get out there and kick some balls!
