Don’t let the weather put you off kicking those balls around in Nottingham…
The temptation is always there to stay inside when the wind is howling or the rain pouring down. So far we haven’t had any proper snowfall in Nottingham but it’s fair to say that the cold snap may be coming our way sooner rather than later.
But there's no need to be depressed! Football was never intended as a summer sport, and in the City of Football we hardly ever stop playing.
The great thing about football is that once you get out and you start running, you’ll warm up quicker than you might think possible. Even if you don't have all the skin tight vests and lightweight gloves, just a few minutes of general activity increases your body temperature immediately and makes you forget about your surroundings.
If you're interested in having a kick about but don't know where to look this winter, you can come to one of our many events and social practices that are still going on up until Christmas time.
Our regulars such as Rusty returners, Reclaim the Pitch and Female Football Fives will be running up until late December. Rusty Returners is on Wednesday 7th & 14th December at the Forest Sports Zone from 6-7pm and is for middle-aged men who haven't played in a while.
FF5s is on Monday nights at the Football Centres at West Bridgford, and they are always looking for new players and teams. On Tuesdays at the Forest Sports Zone, Reclaim the Pitch includes Women's Veteran Football and Women's Walking Football from 6-8pm.
Indoor futsal is also a great way to continue playing football through the winter if you really don't want to feel the cold. Future Footy Legends Nottingham are running Futsal sessions at the Sports and Fitness Centre in Farnborough for men aged 14-25 from 7-8pm.
For some the cold is just too much to even leave the house, but those football lovers who still want to support their club through the Christmas period might as well do so in some branded knitwear. Wear it yourself or get one as a gift, to spend the holidays in style with one of these amazing Christmas jumpers from Notts County, Nottingham Forest, and Mansfield Town.
