What’s on in September?

4 September 2015

It’s been a great summer for football in Nottingham and there's plenty more to come this month including Mela, Harvey Hadden re-opening and after school Sunday sessions...

Nottingham Mela 2015

We’ve joined forces with some incredible Football in the Community coaches to help people across the city find their connection to the beautiful game, and September looks set to be another brilliant month for England’s first City of Football.

From after-school coaching to Sunday sessions, we’re running activities for boys and girls aged 12 and over in various locations across the city– so budding players can pick the easiest time and place for them to attend. Even better, sessions are free and open to all abilities– so anyone can take part, even if they’ve never kicked a ball before.

Inspired by our amazing Notts County Ladies, we’re also running girls-only sessions this month to help Nottingham girls find their connection to football. Whether that’s by becoming keepy-uppy queen or just having a friendly kick about with your mates, our sessions and community coaches are the perfect place for girls to experiment with the game.

Girls don’t get all the fun, though– there are plenty of mixed coaching sessions running too. Boys who want to build their football skills or just have a laugh with their mates are all welcome to come along.

In addition to the coaching sessions running throughout the month, City of Football will be making an appearance at a couple of Nottingham events in September. On Saturday 12 September, we’ll be at the official opening of the Harvey Hadden Sports Village with coaches from Notts County Football in the Community and Nottingham Forest in the Community, as well as female coaches from Notts FA and one coach from the Female Football Fives.

On Sunday 13 September we’ll be at Nottingham Castle for Mela festival, with our coaches from Female Football Fives and Notts FA.

We’ll be running have-a-go activities at both, encouraging Nottingham locals to engage with football and sparking their interest in footie skills.

City of Football’s goal is to get all of Nottingham excited about football– making it accessible to new and old players alike.
