Many people think of football as the UK’s national sport. Professional football gets a lot of loving in the media, with all its official organisations, leagues and cups - but football is about so much more than that.
When people talk about football, it’s easy to forget that there’s more to it than just the games you see on TV. Maybe because of that, loads of people think of football as a competitive sport, and just don’t know if it’s for them.
We’re here to remind you that when you pass someone a football, the possibilities are endless.
Not comfortable competing? That’s okay!
Set yourself a personal challenge and work on some freestyle tricks.
Whether you become the king of keepie-uppies or rule at around the world, you can become a master of ball control no matter who you are.
You might have been playing footie since you were old enough to toddle, or maybe you've only just been inspired to pick up a ball. But no matter your experience level, if you want to build your footie skills, you can do it.
Don’t fancy getting involved that way? Grab a few friends and some jumpers for makeshift goalposts and have a kickabout in any open(ish) space. No need to keep score - just run about with your mates, have a laugh, and practice getting the ball between those two posts.
What you do with the ball is only limited by your imagination. If our suggestions don’t float your boat, you can create a game that works for you and the people you’re playing with.
If you want to build your skills in a friendly environment - no competition necessary - then you can check out all the football sessions taking place near you right here.
